Senior Technology Correspondent Gary Krakow says Microsoft’s new Zune models have a lot of pluses but wonders who’ll choose them over the Apple ipod.

i torrent stuff but only with 320k/s songs which is very close to lossless. im waiting for my zune in the mail, after 2 years of my iPhone i want out of apple and NOW. they are only worth the money if you own a mac (eww)

I only use limewire, and its some old ass lime wire, like 4. something beta
i have never had a problem with wma files, only when i used itunes for my ipod. Normaly with my new zune which i just bought and love i always use my windows media player and sync my zune from there and every song always works fine, unlike itunes where 200 of my songs couldnt be downloaded cuz wma -.-

indeed and now you can have lossless audio on a zune with the wma files . (you could before you just had to turn the bit rate up of the rips)

I have both zune and ipod (i found the ipod at school so why not keep it)
Zune is waaay better, its batter is ungodly long, its sound quality is better, its memory is excelent, and price is lower or about the same as ipod
Ipod- short battery life (about 5-8 hours WTF!!!), bad sound quality (Even with my best earphones) memory is on average bigger, but its price is horribly high

Zune is better than ipod because the ipod has a little screen and the zune has a bigger better looking screen so youll enjoy watching videos on it and it sounds great and the designs are so awesome it beats the ipod by alot my friend is getting me one i cant wait^.^

ya i have both the zune and the ipod and i seem to like my zune better. for me i think the zune software is a lot more easier to handle then itunes and it my opinion i like how the zune looks. i think it looks more sharp and clean and on that note the new zune is coming out which is touch. i would have to say its gonna sell. maybe even be better the the itouch if they start making apps.
over all i say ipods are great dont get me wrong. but i like zune better.

I play WMA Loss-less on my 30GB zune. Sounds great. And the battery is still going strong.

like for the album art? yeah you can. you save the picture you want for the song, then on the Zune software on ur computer you go to the album, right click on the picture for the album and click “Update Album Art” and choose the picture from My Pictures or wherever you saved it. and the great thing is the zune shows the album cover picture way bigger than the iPod does.

when you have top of the range earphones, for instance Shure SE530, which i have.
you need the highest bitrate you can get.
don’t even bother saying it sounds identical.
maybe on your crap, standard earphones yeah!
